A group of Lyons Township High School students participated Thursday in a demonstration of robot-assisted surgery at La Grange Memorial Hospital.
The consensus: “It was really cool.”
The students are part of the school’s Future Healthcare Professionals Club, which combines learning about careers in the medical and health fields with community service.
Dr. T. Andrew Ehmke, an orthopedic surgeon, let each student try the Mako robotic-arm-assisted surgery system without a blade on a plastic leg.
